Create is the theme of the day...

Just finished this baby, it says CREATE, painted it off white and put red and turquoise polka dots all over it :D So cute. When I finally get a craft room of my own this is going to be the colour scheme!

Finally something for the boy!

You would think that me being crafty I would make heaps of cute things for my 18 month old son to play with, but no he has to settle for all my trials of things I attempt to make, you should see his toy box, there are sad elephants with no faces, a sock n glove dog with his head not straight and no face, poor kid, anyway I have finally made him something, mind you he can't really play with it.... :S

Its an "N" for his door. When we finally move and he gets his own room we will be decorating it with a jungle theme. Hence the giraffe and the lion, der! LOL?

Please ignore the glue smudge near the giraffes neck, its annoying the beejesus out of me, but will have to do... HOPEFULLY no one will notice it when its on the door.

Squishy heart

I can now show off one of my softies.

It was a heart with wings.

I really enjoyed making it, the wings are a bear fur material which were so soft.

Just call me frog woman!

Woohoo I have 2 more froggy orders.

All up I have made 4 froggies with another two to make!

I ♥ making them, and they get better with each one I make.

when I get a sec I'll do a little show off of all the froggies so far.

I wonder if I can earn a living making frogs???

Off to spotlight I went...

Ok so I took myself off to spotlight today to gather some supplies for a certain little girls 1st birthday present.

I am making her:

A Tutu using this tutorial from knewbeiknitter
A Wand using a kaiser star coaster and piece of dowel, i'm going to paint it pink and put pink, purple jewels and ribbon to decorate it.
I am also going to make her a little head piece, with ribbon
and contemplating doing wings and an appliqué top with some sort of princess reference.

Keep posted for the final results!

Damn Damn Damn!!!

I went off to the local trash and treasure market today, as I was scanning the items, amongst the potty's and endless array of glass wears, I stumbled upon a box, this box contained a Gocco, don't know what a gocco is? Well it is a screen printing machine from the seventies.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jump to: navigation, search
Print Gocco system
Print Gocco system

Gocco (プリントゴッコ Purinto Gokko?, "Print Gocco") is a self-contained compact color printing system invented in 1977 by Noboru Hayama. Gocco became immensely popular in Japan and it is estimated that one-third of Japanese households own a Print Gocco system.[1]

Using flash bulbs similar to those found in old cameras, an original image is thermally imprinted on a master screen.

The name "print gocco" is derived from the Japanese word gokko (ごっこ?), loosely translated as make-believe play. Riso Kagaku president Noboru Hayama explained, "We [as kids] learned rules and knowledge through make-believe play. The spirit of play is an important cultural asset. I thought that I wanted to leave "play" in the product's name."

In December 2005, Gocco’s parent company, Riso Kagaku Corporation, announced it would end production of the Gocco system due to low sales in Japan. An Internet campaign was started to find a new home for the product.

As of June 2007, Riso Kagaku Corporation had resumed production of several lines of Print Gocco units and they were available in Japan and through limited import retail stores in the United States.

On May 30, 2008, the Riso Kagaku Corporation announced that it will stop shipping Gocco printers in June 2008. They blamed the sharp decline in demand for their printers on the increase in use of home computers and printers. They will continue producing supplies for the printers until further notice. Information provided by the Japan Corporate News Network

I couldn't remember if this is what I had been seeing around being used by Elsie to make her cute little prints. But of course it was and it had everything in it, including paint!!!!

Gah I could kick myself! :( It didn't have a price on it but can't imagine it would have gone for much. Ah well off to trawl Ebay.

Flat frogs to fat frogs!

I have been sewing up a storm! I have been for the last 2 days making 3 frogs, the same as the one I made for the softie swap. One if for a lover of all things frog, I was asked to make him/her in a vintagey fabric, I hope she likes it. The second one is for a little baby boy (who is still baking) his mumma asked me to pick fabric with blues and greens in it. I love the fabric I have chosed for this one. I won't post any pics till the recievers have recieved their froggies but I am enjoying making them. Oh and the third froggy is for Kate (my sis) he is a spotty frog, currently he is disembodied and without a face but he will be all together in no time.

This is the froggy I made for the maternal softie swap, the little girl who it was made for loves it, and gave it lots of hugs when her Mummy gave it to her.

My first paying job!

As the title states, I did my first paying job! It was for a lovely mummy-to-be for her forthcoming baby shower's.

It is the same as the kitchen tea invites (see below) with a bit of tweaking here and there.

I am hoping this could turn into an ongoing thing, I would love to be able to earn money from doing creative stuff. Anyway, I loved doing these and can't wait for the next job!

Kitchen Tea invite finished

Here is the final result of the Kitchen tea invite, I have printed them on matte photo paper at a Kodak Kiosk, which I wasn't overly happy with, the colour came out a little crap but it still looks ok, I then mounted them on metallic card stock with a baby blue grosgrain ribbon to fasten.

So I finally finished

The softie for the maternal swap!!!!!!

But forgot to take a pic of it before I posted it, so as soon as Sarah posts a pic of it I'll post it here!

I was quite happy with how it turned out, and the invisable stitching turned out better than I had thought too. I'm going to make one for Kate with green and brown polkadot materal.

My list seems to be growing and growing of gorgeous thing I want to make.

5 down 5 to go...

Well I'm at the half way mark with my felt book for the Vana CFAC (crafting for a cause) Its so bloody exhausting and all i'm doing to blanket stitch geee's!

Thought I would show off a card I made Dad for Fathers day last year I think. The technique is call tea bag folding (I think) and the paper is Japanese paper, not sure of the make. I think it turned out ok, I used some gold trim to make the obi.

It's been a while...

Since I have posted anything, I've been having a bit of a craft clog, I haven't had the urge to do anything new :(. Hopefully when i get into our own place I can set my self up and actually get some things done.

One thing I have decided tho this week is to make MCN's (Modern Cloth Nappies) and try them with nono. I love the prints you can get for them. So we shall see how we go with them.

Crafting for a cause

Together with a group of lovely ladies I know through a parenting forum, I am crafting for a cause. We are making items that orphaned Zimbabwe kids can play with and use.

Check it out here

I think I might make some taggie blankets, and some crayon cozy's, not sure what else.

I also am in a sewing swap with the forum ladies, its a softie swap, I have already had a go at a trial and it went ok, so I will give the real one a go soon, hopefully it turns out ok.
