Baptism invitation.

My Niece is being baptised in November and I have the honour not only of being one of her God mothers but also Kate has entrusted the creation of the invitations to me :D

Here are some designs I’m playing with.

Each has a subtle difference but I like them all for different reasons.

Craft expo disappointment….

Well Noah and I took ourselves of to the Royal exhibition buildings in Melbourne on what was one of Melbourne's most beautiful days!

And TBH the glorious weather was the highlight of the trip!

I was underwhelmed at the expo. Granted it was smaller and more intimate than the bigger quilt and craft expo’s but it still left me flat.

If you were a scrapbooker/paper crafter, older generation occupant (LOL) more into the traditional sewing/quilting etc it was perfect. But for the more contemporary sewer I was left wanting more.

I did how ever purchase a melly & me pattern “petunia” for $16 petuniafrom In stitches of Williamstown, check out their blog here. In stitches was the only booth with contemporary funky patterns and fabrics such as Amy butler and melly & me to name but a few.

After we have been around the expo a couple of times (in hopes something new would miraculously pop up ) we went outside in the sun for some food and a stretch of the legs.

Here was a community mural, of which after the expo the canvas and money raise will be donated to the Humor Foundation. People were offered the chance (for a small monetary donation) to contribute to the mural. The people in blue were professional art teachers to help the budding artist with their input.

“The artwork, designed by leading decorative artist, Pam Jones, is titled ‘Carousels’. It depicts “the journey from ill heath in the darkest depths of the forest, to good heath full of family and sunshine – travelling along the River or Life looking forward to the adventures that lie ahead.”

Taken from the craft expo magazine.

Blogtoctober post 2 - Craft kiddy style!

Today I thought I would blog about my little man Noah.

Noah is almost 2.5 and loves to keep his mummy on his toes!

He has shown a interest in drawing and is always drawing something, be it on paper or the wall!

This morning I thought would be a great time to crack open the craft supplies for him.

He loved it! His little 2 year old brow was furrowed as he painted the clag (glue) on the paper, the concentration on his face was awesome!

Here are some pics from his craft session :D

And this one is a tribute to Uncle Sam ;)

BLOGTOBERFEST 2009 has begun!

What is BLOGTOBERFEST I hear you ask???

TinnieGirl has started a post everyday for the month of October challange, sooooooo I thought I would give it a go, considering how lackadaisical I am about blogging, it would be a great opportunity for me to stretch my blogging legs and see what this baby can do.

If you want to participate in blogtoberfest click on the links above and sign up!

I thought I would start the festivities and show off some of my latest creations...

First we have a plywood draws from Ikea...

Before

After

I sanded, primed and painted with white spray paint. for the fronts of the draws I used scrapbooking paper and mod podge to both stick it down and as a protective coat, to prevent damage to the paper.

The other project was a MDF serving tray I picked up from spotlight for $16. Initally I wanted to paint it using a crackle medium but that failed, then I thought I would paint it silver to give that faux metallic look which also failed. So after letting it sit around the office for who knows how long I and after trawling the many awesome craft blogs out there I came across a few with some really nifty ideas on decorating items such as trays, cupboards, plates etc. The two blogs that come to mind are Infarrantly Creative and That's so cugly so I decided I was going to spray it with a gloss back paint and then mod podge (can you tell mod podge is my lastest favourite craft thing!) some pattern onto the inside botton, but I can't think of what to put on there. So if you have any ideas don't hesitate and let me know!!!!

So that is my first blogtoberfest post is done and dusted, I wonder what I will chat about tomorrow????

Till next time (tomorrow) TTFN.

Taggie Blanket

I whipped up a taggie blanket for a friend.

I am in love with the fabric. I would love to say I patch work quilted it but alas I did not LOL.

It was dead easy to do although next time I think I will just do a pressed seam and top stitch rather than sew and turn it out and blind stitche the opening, or I could just make the opening smaller.

Also I think I might use a fleece as a backing, it will make it a bit thicker and more cozy.

I also want to have a go at making a pettiskirts! They are just the most adorable skirts.

Although I don't think I can justify the $ when I have no little girls to wear it. My fingers are crossed that I have a little neice on the way ( c/sect 15th June ) so I might be able to get away with it ;)

Ruffled Bloomers

I've been busy sewing last night and today!

I've seen ruffled bloomers around which tend to cost an arm and a leg, so I thought I would try my hand at making some!

And this was the result.

Sorry the pics aren't the best!

I'm hoping to have them up for sale at Lilypad Creation so keep posted :D

Katies having a baby!!!!

My Little sister is having her first baby in less than 8 weeks!

So we are throwing her a baby shower!

Her nursery is tiffany blue with a cherry blossom theme, so I themed the invites around that of course!

She doesn't know if its a boy or a girl (thanks jon!)

So here it is :D

New look IHC!

I have changed the template, do you like it?

I have no idea how to work the link and ad certain things but I'm getting there and its looking rather pretty :D

A little update on things...

I have so many thoughts and idea's rolling around in my head, I just wish I could actually get some of them out on paper!

♥Some new things going on I am in the process of getting the www.iheartcraft.com and getting the forum set up over there, for some reason the forum has been playing up and there is little to no support from the provider so I might have to start from scratch but never fear I will let all the current members know if there are any changes.

♥I have to design some logos for site links and banners for sigs, blogs etc

♥I have some exciting ideas that I am hoping will get off the ground, watch this space for updates :D

♥Invite design jobs in the works which is exciting.

♥Design and make up some wet bags for Lilypad, I have to get photos worthy of the site as well as some better pics of the quillow (not sure how I'm going to do that, if you have any idea's let me know :D)

♥Have a certain little mans 2nd birthday coming up which is just crazy! (I'm in denial that I have a growing little guy!)

♥Find a house to rent, I want my own space and a craft room, studio with heaps of room for all my craft stuff and a massive cutting, sewing table!

Well thats all I've got, I will end with showing off my latest design jobbie!

Moving announcement and quillow!

Do you know what a quillow is? I didn't until a couple of weeks ago. For those who have been living under a rock with myself a quillow is a quilt and a pillow in one! When its open it looks like a quilt but if you fold it a magic way it folds into self and makes a pillow! All be it not the most comfy of pillows but a pillow non the less :D

And for those who totally didn't get the name, its QUilt & pILLOW :D

I also whipped up a "were moving" announcement card for a friend who is leaving Melbourne is a short few weeks :(

I have taken on the zipper and survived!

I put it off long enough, but I have finally concurred my fear of sewing zips!

They aren't perfect but not bad for a first attempt!
I need to get myself a zipper foot tho, I thought I had one but apparently not!

In other news Oz Handmade is now open for business!!!! Come over and check out all the awesome stores of hand made items from baby toys, clothes to soaps and jewellery!

You can check out my wares for sale at my store, Lilypad Creations . I have a few things up for sale but will be adding things as quickly as I make them :D

Here is but a taste of some of the things I have for sale!
.

I'm also working on some new things, Off to spotty tonight for supplies, then I will put them up on lilypad :D
